folding squares of colored paper

I think the stars are aligned for origami.  Not long after I discovered the Thomas the Tank Engine chewing candy (who's wrappers transform into a train set through a series of strategic folds) I discovered modular origami.  A viewer on YouTube introduced me to her origami channel and have since been watching video after video, on how to make three-dimensional forms from folded pieces of paper called modules or units.
I am obsessed.
These were my first attempts, Omega Stars which despite their multiple spikes are actually fairly simple to put together.
While shopping for paper at the one-hundred yen store, I found these clever storage boxes made specifically for keeping origami paper.  My days of rumpled paper are blissfully over.
What are your thoughts on origami?

  5. Love the 100 yen store origami paper and the container..the rabbits are really cute...and those 3D origami are neat.

I do origami...my favorite is the Lucky Star--my goal is to fill a jar with them...they can be addictive. Pikachu would be my next favorite...he is so cute, and when you blow him up it's really neat. Next would be the origami butterfly. I've done the origami hearts, and the origami envelope. I make large origami envelopes--it's a good way to use up 12x12 scrapbook paper that I won't use in a card.

I've made the origami cat and dog too...cute and easy.

I've collected some pretty origami papers. I cover my glue sticks with it and cut it into strips, gluing it onto cards, sort of like washi tape.

  6. Hi, Emmy! =D My name's Talita Sombra and I'm from Brazil (precisely Amazonia). I'm a fan of yours!!! I love your videos (the ones about candies are my favourite! S2 ).
Where I live it's very very very difficult to find these candies and origame papper (all japanese stuff in fact =P ). I buy some stuff at the internet but shipping costs make it too expensive. =( In fact, almost everything is harder at Amazonia.
However... It doesn't stop me watching you and dreaming about all those interesting things you show!
Congrats for your marriage and your baby! =D

  21. i LOVE it. I was once obsessed with making modular balls when I was in middle school and still am OBSESSED with making the mini paper stars out of strips. If you take clear packing tape and tape the balls a lot you can make a DIY "soccer" ball to preserve it in and play with it:D great job on the origami!X)

  26. Annapurna Circuit Trek -Winter and Spring 2016 Autumn - 19 Days

    Annapurna round trekking 2016
The Annapurna Circuit is a popular name for a trek within the Annapurna mountain range of central Nepal. The total length of the route varies between 160–230 km (100-145 mi), depending on where the motor transportation is used and where the trek is ended. The trek rises to an altitude of 5,400m on the Thorung La pass, touching the edge of the Tibetan plateau. This trek crosses two different river valleys and encircles the Annapurna massif, crossing Thorung La (5416m), the highest pass on this trek. Practically all trekkers hike the route counter clockwise, as then the daily altitude gain is slower and crossing the high Thorong La pass is easier and safer.

  27. Excellent trek with Sanjib !”
We had a fantastic 15 day Gokyo + EBC trek with our guide Sanjib adhikari and porter Raj Sherpa. Sanjib was a truly incredible guide- always energetic and extremely knowledgeable about his job after being on all the treks for more than 15 years. He knows the area extremely well and can describe every detail of the path like the back of his hand. He was very sensitive to our needs, especially monitoring our health with the altitude, and kept us on exactly the right pace day to day. He was also very personable and genuinely cared about what we wanted to get out of the trek. For example, my friend really wanted to see the sunset view of Kala Pattar, while myself and my other friend wanted to see the sunrise view so he actually took us up twice – that meant going up Kala Pattar twice in <12 hrs. Personally I love wildlife and Sanjib made a point to point out every animal on the trek- he was able to spot animals camouflaged and far away that we never would have otherwise seen on our own. Sanjib is extremely hardworking and dedicated. Every morning he greeted us enthusiastically and with punny/bad/funny jokes. The guide you go with makes a huge difference for the experience and Sanjib made sure we had a fantastic trip- definitely go with Sanjib!
